Resolutions may be a thing of the past. In our current culture, anti-resolution talk is everywhere. We are dissuaded from making these unrealistic proclamations that less than 5 % of individuals actually achieve. Ironically, productivity experts, health gurus, organization masters, finance coaches and other wizards are all busy promoting their stellar programs to help you overcome your biggest obstacles and become your best self…
Sometimes gifts show up in unexpected packages.
An entire year…that’s 12 months… 365 days…That’s how long it took for me to lose every last pound of pregnancy weight. I had shed all but about 5 pounds, but those stubborn little guys clung to me like those little “hitch-hiker” seeds that used to cling to our socks. It was really very frustrating and in many ways made me question my self-discipline, knowledge, years of training and experience, motivation,…everything!
What I knew, coached, preached, lived… didn’t seem to be working.
What is the difference between a journey and an adventure? To me, a journey sounds long, hard, grueling, and draining while an adventure sounds mysterious, exciting, fun and freeing. What if we took the view of an adventure as we move towards our weight and health goals? Is it possible to make the process fun? Or at least, not a dread? Is it possible to change the course of our health without feeling deprived? I think that a lot of weight loss and nutrition books attempt to combine a formula for success, bottle it up and sell “easy.”
“Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment.” — Jim Rohn
Exercise is a powerful part of a healthy lifestyle. Research shows that it goes beyond physical fitness and invades our mental and emotional health as well. We also know that the feeling of accomplishment builds strength, courage, and confidence.
How many times are YOU willing to try?
Many of us might respond that it “depends on what we are trying to do.” It is human nature to get frustrated when our plan does not go well. It is normal to feel disappointed when our efforts don’t appear to pay off. It is understandable when all of our hard work seems to get us… nowhere. If you have ever felt like you are running circles, it is fatiguing and the goal in the distance doesn’t get any closer, right?
